Physiotherapy in Winnipeg: referrals, insurance and billing questions
You can contact St. James Rehab directly to arrange physiotherapy. A referral requirement under an insurance plan is a separate question, so check your benefits before your appointment.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
You do not need a doctor’s referral to book physiotherapy at St. James Rehab. Your insurer may still ask for one before reimbursing you. Ask your benefits provider about its requirements rather than assuming that booking an appointment confirms coverage.
What should I ask my insurer?
Keep this short checklist beside you when you contact your provider: Is physiotherapy included? Is there a per-visit limit or annual maximum? Is a referral required? How much of the allowance remains? What documentation do I need to submit?
If two benefit plans may apply, ask how they coordinate. Record the answer and the date so that you have something clear to refer to later.
Can the clinic bill MPI, WCB or my insurer?
St. James Rehab offers direct billing options for MPI, WCB and private insurance. Availability depends on your plan or claim and needs to be confirmed with the clinic. Have your claim number or insurance details ready when you call. Direct billing does not guarantee that every charge will be paid.
How much will my visit cost?
An initial assessment costs $110 and a follow-up appointment costs $86. A vestibular assessment costs $150. See the fee schedule on our homepage for additional services. Insurance reimbursement depends on your plan.
